If you’re looking for pieces that showcase modern fashion with Korean tradition we HIGHLY reccomend visiting The Goeun clothing designer in the Insadong district in Seoul. They have a small store with clothes that can be purchased off the rack that feature unique designs by the shop owner. While the clothing available in-store is mostly small and medium, they are able to do custom, measured to you clothing with a fast turn-around time (we have received pieces from them in as little as 4 days for a size 24). The owner is extremely kind and finding this modern ‘life hanbok’ in a size larger than medium is a rarity in Seoul, so we applaud the Goeun for their willingness to be size inclusive. Their pieces are on the more expensive side, with a set (hanbok top and bottom skirt) running around 270,000 KRW or around $230 USD, and they also have coats and various other options on the lower end of the price scale. They also have online shopping and international shipping available.
